Passed away peacefully at Normanton Retirement Home on October 17, 2017, aged 93 years.

Born in 1924, Hazel was the Daughter of Percy and Dorcas Young, who had a Butchers Shop on the Wyle Cop, opposite The Nag's Head up until the early 1960's.

Hazel exaggerated her age a little to enlist with the WAAF and contribute to the war effort. At just 16 she was driving 10 ton trucks, transporting munitions to aerodromes around Shropshire, usually hidden by the dark of night with no lights permitted because of the blitz. She moved to London in the 50's and then onto Sunbury on Thames, also enjoyed a few years as an expat Wife on the RAF base in Tengah, Singapore. In the 80's she returned to Shrewsbury where she lived happily in Hanwood until the time came to move to Normanton Retirement Home a few years ago.

A loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Hazel will be sadly missed by her Family and Friends, who will cherishthe many joyful memories of their time spent together and her wonderful and captivating accounts of her fascinating life and adventures.

Funeral Service to take place at Emstrey Crematorium, Shrewsbury, at 12.30pm, on Friday, November 17.
