GROVES

George Edmund

Of Madeley, formerly a member of the Anstice Working Men's Institute.

Passed away, May 25, at The Princess Royal Hospital, aged 83.

Many thanks to the Staff of Ward 6 who ensured that he departed comfortably and withdignity, with Family by his side.

He was a loving Husband and Father and is survived by his Grandchildren Chris, Alex and Sabrina. Devoted to his Family, he will be much missed.

Locally famed as a painter and a regular winner of a local art competition, many will have seen his paintings of the Iron Bridge, an example of which still hangs above the bar in the Anstice. George donated the painting in the hope that it will be on view when the Anstice building is reopened.

It was his greatest wish that onhis death, his body be sent to Keele University Medical Centre for the purposes of research and education.

There will be a Celebration of his life for Family and Friends at The Barley Mow, Madeley, where he regularly enjoyed a drink and a chat on Sunday, July 3, at 1pm.

Donations if wished to The British Heart Foundation and The Dog's Trust.
