I just wanted to say a few words at how sad I was to learn of the passing of Mansel Williams. I knew Mansel through his work as a local councillor for Belle Vue Ward and also for his work with the Belle Vue Arts. He was a great inspiration and a lovely man. I had a great respect and admiration for Mansel and often spoke on the phone with him. He struck me as a man who really cared about his community and had a genuine concern to help others and to make a difference. It was a pleasure to have known him and also deeply sad to know that he has now passed. Derek J Furlong.

Mansell has been a life long friend, a colleague in teaching, and a dedicated political activist. I am saddened by his passing because for many years we shared so much friendship. My heartfelt condolences to Clare, their children and grandchildren. He was an inspiration to many with a great sense of humour. Jeff Hayes

As fellow socialists and comrades from way back, as well as rail enthusiasts, we will miss Mansel very much. He was always a joy to meet and his enthusiasm and love of life were infectious. Our deepest sympathy to Clare and all the family. I hope you will be comforted by the fact that Mansel has made a difference in so many lives and was so well loved.
