Victor Royston
Victor Royston Eaton passed away in the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital on Monday, October 23, 2017, following a lengthy illness.
He was born January 2, 1930 in Wolverhampton, the Midlands of England. He was the youngest of 8 Children.
Victor was blessed with musical talent. As a boy he travelled to London for singing lessons and sang in his local Church Choir. As a young man he and some Friends formed a small band, playing and singing in English pubs and clubs.
After arriving in Canada in 1956 he continued to be involved in the music scene, singing in various night clubs in Vancouver.
His working career began with an apprenticeship as a projectionist in the movie Theatres in Wolverhampton. He worked inthis field for a few years, then attended City and Guilds Technical College in London where he graduated as a Television Technician.
When Victor immigrated he continued in this field for many years as an employee of Eaton's of Canada. Later on he was involved in various facets of electronics. Being a keen sportsman he enjoyed many happy hours hunting and fishing in British Columbia.
Before his illness Victor took pleasure in assisting in the production of plays at the Bailey Theatre.
At the end of the second world war he was conscripted into the British Army and became a long-time member of the Canadian Legion. He was a member of Lantzville's Branch 257.
Victor is survived by his Wife Lucille of Nanaimo, his Brother Ted and Sister-in- law Joan of South Surrey. In England he is survived by his Son Michael and Daughter-in-law Patricia of Wolverhampton, Son Stephen in Shropshire, Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.
