Jill Hayling

(nee Maddison) 1936 to 2022

The Family of Jill Wesson are sad to announce that she died peacefully, in the excellent care of Severn Hospice, Telford, on September 22, although she had been unwell for many months, the end came quickly and peacefully.

Wife of the late Charles Wesson and Mother to Rachel and Rupert. Loving Partner to Steven Johnson, she cherished her role of Grandmother to immediate and extended Family.

A former language teacher, in Shrewsbury and South Shropshire and a committed member of Cardington Church and its community. Jill's love of Church music was strong and enduring. She sang in several choirs and played the organ in a number of local Churches. Her strong sense of duty to her Church and community led her to serve as a member of Deanery Synod and with the RSCM. Many young lives were enriched by her service, whether through teaching recorders at Rushbury School, leading Family Worship at Cardington or inspiring and encouraging singers. She was always happiest on horseback in her beloved South Shropshire. Donations in Jill's memory can be made to Severn Hospice.
