Sympathy and Bereavement Verses
Verses that you may wish to use or adapt when offering your condolence.
Sweet are the memories, silently kept,
Of one we loved dearly and never forget.
There’s a face that is always with us,
There’s a voice that we long to hear,
There’s a smile we always remember,
Of the one we loved so dear.
Beautiful thoughts of one so dear,
Treasured forever with love sincere.
Her/his life was full of kindly deeds,
A helping hand to all in need,
Sincere and true in heart and mind,
A memory sweet she/he left behind.
Time changes many things,
But not the memory this day brings.
We’ve been lonely since you left us,
Home has never been the same,
The entire world would be like heaven,
Just to have you back again.
Not just today but every day,
In silence we remember.
It does not need this special day,
To bring you to our minds,
For days without a thought of you,
Are very hard to find.
Silent thoughts tears unseen,
Keep your memory ever Green.
I hear your voice in silent hours,
When the house is quiet and still,
I feel the touch of your unseen hand,
Guiding and helping me still.
Not gone from his daddy’s memory,
Not gone from his mother’s love,
But gone to dwell with Jesus,
In His happy home above.
Through life I loved you dearly,
In death I do the same,
From memory’s page I will never blot,
Three little words forget me not.
To be with you in the same old way,
Would be our dearest wish today.
Looking back with tenderness,
Along the path you trod,
We bless the years we had with you,
And leave the rest to God.
Within our home when all was bright,
God took from us a shining light,
We miss that light and always will,
His/Her vacant place no one can fill.
We often think of bygone days,
When we were all together,
The family chain is broken now,
But memories live for ever.
A beautiful life came to an end,
He/she died as he/she lived everyone’s friend,
Always so true unselfish and kind,
Few in this world his/her equal to find,
So loved so mourned.
I miss you most when I need a friend,
On you I always could depend,
Kind and unselfish a mother/father so true,
My dearest possession is the memory of you.
Though years have passed oh how we miss them,
Loving them dearly their memory we’ll keep,
Never till life ends shall we forget them,
Sacred to us is the place where they sleep.
Sweet is the memory deep in my/our heart/s,
The place it holds will never depart,
And all through the years be they many or few,
Will be years of remembrance dear mother/father of you.
Sad and sudden was his/her call,
His/her sudden death surprised us all,
To a beautiful life came a sudden end,
He/she died as he/her lived everyone’s friend,
He/her had a nature you could not help loving,
A heart far purer than Gold,
Upright and just in all his ways,
Loving and kind to the end of his/her days.
One year today we had to part,
With a mother/father we loved with all our hearts,
Her/his trials were many her/his pleasures few,
God alone know what she/he went through,
Remembrance is sweet but sad to recall,
She /he was loved by us and respected by all.
Her/his weary hours and days of pain,
Her /his sleepless nights are past,
Her/his ever patient worn out frame,
Has found sweet rest at last,
Calm and peaceful she/he is sleeping,
Sweetest rest that follows pain,
We who loved her/him only know,
How much we last one year ago.
Gone from among us how we miss her/him,
Not till life ends shall we ever forget her/him,
Loving her/him dearly her/his memory we’ll keep,
Sacred to us is the place where she/he sleeps,
Sweet are the memories that never fade,
Of one we loved dearly but could not save.
Looking back with tenderness,
Along the path you trod,
We bless the years we had with you,
And leave the rest to God.
There’s a bridge of golden memories,
From here to Heaven above,
It keeps you very close to us,
It’s called the bridge of Love.
I’ve lost my sole companion,
A life linked with my own
No-one knows how I miss you,
As I travel this life alone.
Gone are the days we used to share,
But in my heart you are always there.
There are no tomorrows for us to share,
But yesterdays memories will always be there.
Our thoughts are always with you,
Your place no-one can fill,
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we love you still,
Your place of rest we visit,
Your flowers we place with care,
But no-one knows the heartache,
As we turn and leave you there.
There’s a path of golden memories,
That leads to Heaven above,
It keeps you really close to us,
It’s called the path of love,
Look after him/her Lord,
In your garden of rest,
Heaven must be beautiful,
You only take the best...
You suffered much in silence,
Your spirit did not bend,
You fought for life with courage,
Until the very end,
Memories are a gift to treasure,
Ours of you will last forever.
Deep in our hearts you will always stay,
Loved and remembered everyday.
We seldom ask for miracles but today just one would do,
to leave the door wide open and see you walking through.
We’d wrap our arms around you and kiss your smiling face,
for you were someone special who could never be replaced.
Loving you is easy we do it every day,
missing you is a heartache that never goes away.
Your presence we miss,
your memory we treasure,
loving you always,
forgetting you never.
We can’t have old days back when we were all together,
but secret tears and loving thoughts will be with us forever.
A smile can hide the sadness, a tear can be wiped away,
but the heartache of losing you will never go away.
Those memories of you are special,
they last from day to day,
they don’t get lost, can’t wear out
and can’t be taken away.
