JAMES

Lindsay Margaret

The Funeral of Lindsay Margaret James took place at Christ Church, Rhydycroesau on April 18, followed by private Cremation. Lindsay's wish was that her Ashes be scattered in the garden she loved and where she had worked so hard.

The Rev. Canon David Crowhurst who had married Lindsay and David at Christ Church in 1994 and who also Baptised Tom in 1999 conducted the Service.

Lindsay was the Daughter of Beryl Richards (nee Gauge) and the late Graham Richards and Sisterto Martin. She grew up in Maesbury, was educated at Maesbury County School and Oswestry Girls High School. Her ambition, from the her first days in school, had always been to teach and she did her Teacher Training at Cardiff University's School of Home Economics at Llandaff.

Lindsay's first teaching post was at Ham, Richmond Surrey. She came back to Oswestry to run the Home Economics Department at Oswestry College at the time comprehensive education came over to Oswestry.

After several years lecturingat Oswestry College she moved to the Administration side of education and based at the Shirehall in Shrewsbury she became involved in the training of School Governors throughout Shropshire. When Wrekin Unitary Authority came into being, Lindsay moved to Telford as an Educational Administrator and Regeneration Project Manager where she remained until she took early retirement in 2010.

Lindsay's effectiveness as an Education Administrator, Manager, Team Leader and motivator of people is evident in theenormous number of tributes received from former Colleagues for her forward thinking, planning, drive and ability to inspire people.

She organised the visits of Princess Diana, David Blunkett, Estelle Morris and The Queen as well as organising the launch of the New Unitary Authority in 1998. Lindsay was totally loyal to her Staff, her Colleagues and her Friends and was always kind and caring.

She was a wonderful cook, a very keen gardener and homemaker and also a great fan of Test Cricket and The SixNations Rugby.

Lindsay's positive and very courageous attitude throughout her illness was an inspiration to all her Family and Friends.
