Mr Buxton changed my life.

Arun Bains

15 April 2019
I was an overactive and, dare I say, disruptive child in my previous schools. All energy and no direction. On my first morning at Bhylls Acre I walked into the hall and saw a man surrounded by a sea of children. My first thought was.... 'Hmmmm.... how long before I break this guy?'. This man who I did not know approached my father and I and said hello and led us into his office. My father spent the next ten minutes explaining to this man who sat smiling in front of me that I was a real handful, and that I was disruptive, and that I was..... Mr Buxton cut my father off there. 'Come and see me in two weeks, Mr Bains' Again my father persisted trying to convey how much trouble I had been in in my previous schools and.... again Mr Buxton cut him off. 'Mr Bains.... come and see me in two weeks'. My Dad got up and said..... 'OK. Don't say I didn't warn you'. Two weeks later Mr Buxton called my father and asked him to come in to see him. My Dad thought 'Oh great... here we go again'. When Dad got to his office Mr Buxton did not say a word. He just led my father to the door of my class room. There sitting at the front of the class was a young boy whose hand shot up at every question asked. Attentive, happy, engaged. My Buxton turned my life around. He had faith in me, but more importantly he had the gift of inspiring you to do your best. Pretty much in tears as I finish this. Teachers are great. Great teachers are so much more than teachers. Thank you Mr Buxton. It's home time.
