EVANS

Joan Elias

Formerly of Ger-y-Nant, Guilsfield, Welshpool.

Passed away peacefully at The Court Resdential and Nursing Home, West Felton, Oswestry, on Sunday, July 15, 2012, aged 92 years.

She had been a resident at the home since June 2009.

She was a native of Skewen, near Neath, Glamorgan.

Qualifying as a Primary School Teacher at Swansea Teacher Training College.

She taught in Neath before moving to Mid Wales in 1958 after her Marriage. There she taught as a Supply Teacher at Ysgol Maes-y-Dre, Welshpool, Ardwyn, Gungrog Road, Guilsfield, Forden, Cefn Coch and Llanfair Caereinion Primary Schools.

For many years she was a member of Moreia Presbyterian Church, Llanfair Caereinion. Later Joining Groes Chapel, Guilsfield.

She was a faithful member of Guilsfield Mothers Union for many years. Latterly she frequently attended St Aelhaiarn's Church, Guilsfield, with her late Husband Wyndham.

The Funeral Service was held at Emstrey Crematorium, Shrewsbury, on July 27, led by Reverend Rev Cannon Roger Bird, Vicar of St Aelhaiarn's Church.

Hymns and Prayers were offered in Welsh by Y Parch Iwan Lewis.

The Family Mourners were her Son Lloyd, her Nephew Mr William Williams and his Wife Kaye, Cousins Mr David Hewitt-Dean and Mr and Mrs John Hobbs. Also in attendance were many of Joan's Friends from Guilsfield, Welshpool and Llanfair Caereinion.

There were Family flowers only.

Funeral arrangments were by R G Peate Welshpool.

Lloyd would like to thank everyone for their support and kindness and for the donations given in memory of Joan, these will be forwarded to Christian Aid.
