Pat Newey: a wonderful man.

This is a photograph of Gill with Pat who with his lovely wife Paddy were our caravan neighbours at Tyd for many years. Pat was a wonderful man who sadly died twelve months ago and we were unable to go to his funeral. Gill died in March 2012 after a very long battle with Motor Neurone Disease. Pat’s ability to make wonderful items out of wood was simply unbelievable and the quality of his work is just something you do not see these days. He did not use power tools and the items he made were the true mark of a superb craftsmen. He taught woodwork and when funding was cut he would go round places begging and borrowing timber to that his students would have wood to make items out of. He had a very dry sense of humour and he loved Paddy, his children, his dogs and his allotment. He was a really, really wonderful chap. His wife Paddy, an equally wonderful lady, supported him and together they made an interesting, young at heart, couple and accordingly they were a great team. Pat and his dad made their first caravan and towed it to North Wales! Pat and Paddy would drive to Tyd on their LD Lambretta and stayed/visited the site for over 50 Years. I have many happy memories of Pat and Paddy……thank you both so much for all the happy times. Sometime you just come across nice, warm and genuine people. Pat and Paddy are such people. John Forrester
